Like others who have become “the older generation” before us, we baby boomers discover the truth behind the clichés of everyday life.
A plaque on the kitchen wall in the farm home of a retired couple in the first parish we served declared, “Too soon old, Too late smart.” All too true!
We may have gotten older (and deferred our dreams in the process), but thankfully it isn’t too late to live some of our dreams. We only have to wake up and stop telling ourselves we have to defer the actual living of our dreams “until we are retired” and “we can afford it.”
Often, people tell me that travel is at the top of the list of their dreams for retirement. “I can’t wait to be retired, so I can see the world!” Why wait?
You can see the world now. That’s right, home exchanges take away the economic impossibility of your dream “to see the world”—now.
