Thinking About Traveling To Belgium?

The last episode of the BBC production of Agatha Christieโ€™s Poirot, starring David Suchet was filmed in November 2013. Between Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant Video, we have managed to watch almost all the episodes of Poirot with Suchet. Again and again, viewers are reminded that Poirot comes from Belgium not France. For 25 years, Suchet not only shared his version of Hercule Poirot, but imprinted in our minds something about Belgium.

Have you ever thought of traveling to Belgium?

Two cities stand our for most travel itineraries that include this wondrous countryโ€”Antwerp and Bruges.

Antwerp is one of the worldโ€™s largest seaports. Its churches and museum are home to some of the most valued art treasures in the world. This charming city has beautiful old houses and narrow cobbled streets. Of course, there is also the Diamond District where 85% of all the diamonds in the world are cut each year.

Bruges, in Flemish Belgium, is often referred to as the โ€œVenice of the North,โ€ with its canals and cobbled streets. If you visit, youโ€™ll want to take time for a cafรฉ in the Old Town market. Also, visit The Church of Our Lady, for a view of Michelangeloโ€™s โ€œMadonna and Child.โ€
